The Academy has adopted a self and mentor-guided learning approach with the MiCD credit point earning system for accreditation. The MICD accreditation system adopts two path ways of credit point earning, namely: Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Continuing Professional Charity (CPC). CPD is a conventional approach and is based on the guideline of FDI which mainly focuses on enhancing the professional competency (Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes) of candidates. However, CPC is an entirely new approach to professional development and is based on the “knowledge charity” approach developed by Dr. Sushil Koirala to enhance compassion and happiness in professional life. In this system, a professional needs to earn credit points through professional ‘knowledge charity’ activities such as delivering free lectures, conducting hands-on training, mentoring trainees, writing clinical articles, book chapters, and eBooks to help grow the MICD mission with a noncommercial approach. The CPD / CPC items and its related credit points are mentioned in the table below.
